This 3-year history project is a School Partnership supported by
Comenius 1. It involves representatives
from schools and colleges across six European countries: Italy,
Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Romania and the United Kingdom.
The project had three main aims:
- To exchange knowledge and experience of teaching practices
- To enhance the teaching and learning of national history by
developing the European context and perspective
- To develop different teaching materials including a website
which can be accessed internationally
As the project is now complete, you can read a summary
of the project and find out how all
the participants felt about it.
The general themes for the project were:
- People
and power (totalitarianism and democracy)
- People
in movement (from countryside to towns, immigrants and emigrants)
- Terrorism
(historical and current perspectives)
Each partner in the project will contribute material from their
national perspective on one or more of these themes. The material
for each of the themes will be presented at 3 different levels
of complexity:
- Summary
- Further development
- Source materials and document
Particular areas of interest will be catered for through case studies.
While it is impossible to specify a particular historical period
to focus on, the partners have agreed that the nineteenth and twentieth
centuries would be the most fruitful areas to look at.
