Heroes and Cultural Identity Project
Project Aims
The aims of the 'Heroes and Cultural Identity' project are to involve a wide range of students in an exciting and innovative way. The research will start from their interests and will develop an interactive and educational process of international communication and cultural exchange. Students are expected to learn
- to investigate and use the sources of information
- to discover through action and experimental activity themselves, their abilities and interests
- to work in small/larger groups
- to express and support their opinions in the selection and organization of materials about their hero (on these materials will also depend the "success" of the hero)
- to open up to various aspects of local/European societies
- to appreciate old, new and unknown forms of "heroism"
- to overcome cultural stereotypes
- to take decisions
- to accept and respect others' decisions
- to use ICT
- to look at the subjects involved as a whole interacting process
At the end of the project participants will have undertaken research, been involved in democratic decision-making ("vote for your hero") and learned about the interests and cultures of other European students which will help them to find a youth focused key to interpreting other European realities. The project is designed to have high visibility, involve large numbers within each institution and through this to have an impact on the community generally.
