Heroes and Cultural Identity Project

Project End Products

There will be five main end products:

  1. The process of preparing and presenting materials will enhance students' skills in research, IT skills, team-working, language and design.
  2. A bank of student materials would be built up within a website. The results of voting would be displayed within the website and on notice boards in each school.
  3. A project publication, containing information on the elected heroes and the schools and students who promoted them, would be issued.
  4. The project is designed to integrate democratic involvement and participation on an international level through the voting procedure. In other words, the very process of taking part in the project should bring forth an educational end product, which is difficult to measure, but can be quantified by adding up the total number of voters.
  5. By considering ideas presented by students in other countries the project will provide an important source of multicultural education.

Hopefully the project will disseminate itself in terms of drawing in more and more voters. It is designed for wide participation and while not all participants will be preparing materials on heroes, it will be easy and enjoyable for large numbers to be involved in the voting. This will be assisted by use of the notice board with voting results and medals/certificates. Posters giving information on how to register on the website could be prominently displayed in all schools.

If the process and voting mechanism is successful it will be easy for other schools to adopt the method and use the website to continue the project after the three years are over.
